Smart sustainable warehouse storage solutions for your business and your corporate responsibility policies
As shareholders prioritise corporate governance, companies face mounting pressure to align with ESG-focused suppliers.
Greener warehouse storage solutions start with the manufacturer. Dexion’s “smarter-thinking solutions” address storage needs and underscore our dedication to environmental protection. So, if your procurement team seeks a supplier committed to sustainability, trust Dexion to deliver.
Here, we outline recent environmentally-focused initiatives, policies, and updates that contribute to Dexion’s efforts to improve environmental practices within our supply chain.
1. LEED Gold Certification
Dexion’s Malaysia Smart Hub facility is on track to receive a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold status. The world’s most widely used green building rating system, LEED certification considers the design, construction and operation of high-performance green buildings.
Contributing features and processes within our Malaysia facility include:
- Building design: From aluminium louvres encouraging natural ventilation and light to high-performance glass curtain glass walls, double-skin roofing systems, solar panels, sensor taps and LED lighting, Smart Hub lives up to its name. The building now maintains an annual CO2 avoidance of 526 tonnes, which is the equivalent to the absorption of 22,372 trees a year.
- Stormwater management: A 570m3 capacity tank controls the quality and quantity of rainwater runoff, prevents soil erosion and reduces the risk of flooding.
- Biophilia: All-around perimeter landscaping encourages a sense of well-being.
- The 5S methodology (sort, set in order, shine, standardise, and sustain): Creates a clean, efficient, and functional work environment.
- Paperless environment: Cloud-based systems, digital CCTV management, digital Visitor Management System, team softphones and a clean desk policy reduce our reliance on paper.
2. Sedex Members Ethical Trade Audit (SMETA) Compliance
Dexion completed a rigorous 4 Pillar SMETA Audit, establishing new and ground-breaking industry benchmarks that set us apart from competitors.
One of the most widely-used and distinguished social audits in the world, SMETA assesses labour standards, health and safety, environment and business ethics. The SMETA assessment mirrors our Corporate Social Responsibility Policy, highlighting our commitment to mitigating environmental and social risks for a sustainable future.
3. GECA-Certified Products
All Dexion commercial products have undergone comprehensive requirements to receive Good Environmental Choice Australia (GECA) Certification. GECA’s ecolabel provides independent assurance that our products are better for the environment.
4. Manufacturing and Carbon Footprint Reduction
Through sustainable manufacturing processes, Dexion minimises our production process’s environmental effects. Efficient methods, waste reduction and circular economy principles help us create a more sustainable supply chain.
- Powder Coating: New painting processes have reduced waste and improved application efficiencies. Environmental management system standards influence how we source powder coatings.
- Recycled Materials: We collect and recycle scrap steel or aluminium from the manufacturing process.
- Cleaning Wastewater Discharge: We treat and purify wastewater in accordance with the Department of Environment. Two Competent Individuals are on-site and certified to manage the effluence.
5. Energy-efficient Equipment
Dexion has introduced a bespoke paintline to increase production efficiency and manage environmental considerations. The facility is a smart use of space (just 10% of the factory footprint), can complete 550 beams per hour, results in lower powder wastage and treats water for clean discharge.
The facility also uses an electric forklift fleet with zero emissions and pollutants, workplace noise reduction and good longevity.
Dexion Code of Ethics
Dexion does not engage or support child labour. We prohibit the employment of children under the age of 16. Although we do offer work experience to students between the age of 16-18 years old, we do so under the strict provisions of engagement as outlined in DLP04 Child Labour Policy.
